Strategic Planning

Are You a Business Owner, or a Leader in an Organization?

Chances are, your life never gets boring. Regardless of its size, even a thriving organization will throw many unforeseen challenges your way and will require you to juggle multiple tasks.

As a decision coach, I can help you tackle and work through different types of business or organizational decisions in a systematic way:

  • If your organization is still in an early stage, or if you want to re-think its direction, I can help you develop your vision and create a solid strategic plan to put it into action.
  • If you are in a growing stage, you may face new leadership challenges. I can help you adapt your business model, or develop your leadership or management skills.
  • If you juggle too many tasks, I can help you figure out your priorities and manage your time – or that of your team – more effectively.

How I Work With You

Our work will be tailored to your specific needs and situation. It can take the form of ongoing one-on-one coaching in person or on the phone, or we can work in intense full-day or half-day sessions. If you want to include core members of your team in an in-depth strategic planning process, we can plan a facilitated retreat together that you can offer to your team.

Whether we work one-on-one or with your team, and whether we focus on your short-term or long-term strategies, I will always help you translate your big-picture strategies into specific plans. You will get immediate action items as an outcome of each of our meetings, so that you can start implementing or testing those plans right away, between our sessions.

Are you ready to start or would you like to find out more? Schedule your first strategic planning session or a phone call to discuss options.

My Strategic Planning Expertise

Apart from working directly with small businesses, I am teaching strategic planning classes at the Small Business Development Center at Portland Community College, and decision making classes at Portland State University.

I have been a team leader of pro bono consultants for nonprofits through the Community Consulting Project (CCP) of the Organizational Development Network (ODN) Oregon. This typically included help with strategic planning and board development. I have been a professional member of Oregon ODN and part of the CCP leadership team for five years.

I have written a strategic planning guideline that describes the steps of a typical strategic planning session, from honing the mission to planning concrete action steps. It offers practical tools for facilitators to guide groups through this process.

Here’s more about my background and expertise.
